Watch Trevor Noah Kick Joel Embiid’s Ass In FIFA 19

Trevor Noah and Joel Embiid were both born in Africa but make their livings in the U.S. Now they’re fighting it out to see who is the king of FIFA 19 in this stellar Trevor Noah vs Joel Embiid video.

Noah released the video on his YouTube channel on Friday as the two players duked it out in five matches. At the end, there was an undisputed champion: Noah.

Both Noah and Embiid are well-known soccer fans.

Noah, the host of the Daily Show With Trevor Noah, was born in South Africa and had plenty to say during the World Cup, from joking about the awful announcers to taking a more serious look at the Africanness of the French World Cup champions

Embiid was born in Cameroon and moved to the U.S. at the age of 16 to pursue a career in basketball. Having modeled his game after Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon and overcome plenty of injuries, Embiid is now an NBA All-Star.

Like Olajuwon, Embiid is a huge soccer fan. But he leaves a bit to be desired on the pitch, both virtual and real world.

During the Trevor Noah vs Joel Embiid FIFA series, Noah won three matches, Embiid won once and they tied once.

The first match saw Noah’s Atletico Madrid defeat Embiid’s Real Madrid 2-1. Embiid followed that with his only victory of the day, as Juventus topped PSG 2-0. Noah regained the advantage in the series by leading Real Madrid to a 3-0 win over Juventus.

The pair then tried out a Survival match, where a scoring team’s player is sent off after every goal. (Read more about that and other cool new modes in our FIFA 19 review.) This time, Noah, as Bayern Munich, drew with Embiid’s Manchester City 1-1.

In the final match of the day, a Champions League final, Noah extended his dominance, again taking Real Madrid to victory, 2-1 over Juventus.

The whole video is entertaining as both Noah and Embiid are likable, affable people playing one of the most popular video games in the world.

Some highlights included Noah trying (poorly) to sing the Champions League anthem and later mocking Jose Mourinho, talking up his three wins over Embiid just as Mourinho bragged about his three Premier League titles.

We’re looking forward to the rematch next year.

But in case you don’t have time to watch the full 10-minute video, here are some highlights from Trevor Noah vs Joel Embiid, including some hilarious trash talk at the end.

Noah on the first match:

“This is just us practicing. But I mean, if I win, it counts.”

Noah asking Embiid about flopping:

“Do you think there’s as much flopping in basketball now as soccer?”

“Yes. I play soccer, so I kind of flop a lot too sometimes.”

“Flopping is nice, though.”

“Yeah, when you get what you want, it’s nice.”

Noah on the gameplay of FIFA 19:

“I like the way the bodies move, I can feel the weight of the players.

“If you were in FIFA 19, I would be able to feel that you were a 7-foot giant who’s a really soft, emotional guy, I would feel that you know.”

When Noah was leading Embiid 3-0 in the third match:

“Is your microphone broken, Joel? Something’s gone real quiet in here man.

“I remember when my friend Joel would talk to me during the game, those were the good old days.”
