Cristiano Ronaldo begins his new side quest: CR7 is going to be a YouTuber

Cristiano Ronaldo looks to have a second career lined up after he retires from soccer. The Portuguese star launched a YouTube channel on Wednesday and has already gained over 4 million subscribers in a few hours.

The YouTube launch was clearly planned out as CR7 posted 18 videos on his account Wednesday. The videos range from game shows with his wife Georgina Rodríguez, rating his goals, free kick challenges and more.

Whoever is directing his videos clearly knows a thing or two about YouTube as the videos have high quality footage and editing.

“I am very happy to make this project come to life,” said Ronaldo. “It has been in my mind for a long time but finally we have the opportunity to make it real. I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so and they will learn more about me, my family, and my views on many different subjects. I am also looking forward to sharing conversations with guests that will no doubt surprise people!”

The Ronaldo hype is visible as he set a YouTube record for the fastest channel in history to reach one million subscribers. While other creators have worked for years to reach the one million mark, CR7 did it in 89 minutes.

It will be interesting to see how dedicated Ronaldo will be to keeping up with his channel. He’ll have to find time for his channel while also captaining Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and the Portugal national team.

We’ll admit, becoming a YouTuber wasn’t on our Ronaldo career-path bingo card.

Ronaldo is the most-followed person across social media with 636 million Instagram followers, 170 million Facebook followers and 112 million Twitter followers.

CR7 will have some work to do in order to become the most-followed YouTuber in the world. That title currently belongs to Mr. Beast who has 311 million subscribers.
