Watch: Weston McKennie goes off during two*-goal MOTM performance for Juventus

We’re counting this as two goals and you can’t tell us otherwise.

Weston McKennie was named Juventus’ Man of the Match on Monday during the Italian club’s dominant 5-0 victory vs. Cremonese. The American midfielder had one of his finest performances of the season with TWO goals.

You might see some terrible propaganda out there that McKennie only had one goal on Monday. These are appalling lies brought to you by “Big Statistic”. Don’t believe their false narrative, McKennie absolutely had a brace against Cremonese.

Weston McKennie vs Cremonese

The controversy around the 27-year-old’s goal count came early in the second half. In the 48th minute McKennie did a terrific job of rounding the goalkeeper and finishing coolly into the goal.

“Big Statistic” wants you to believe that the ball was cleared off the line with centimeters to spare and it was actually an own goal. We’re not falling for that fairy tale. Give McKennie his goal.

While the debate is still out on whether this was a McKennie goal or not, he went on to score AGAIN six minutes later.

What's Big Statistic going to say now? “Oh, well that isn’t technically his goal because BLAH BLAH BLAH.”

No one can take McKennie’s second effort vs. Cremonese away from him. The American star has now scored in two of Juventus’ previous three league games as the club remain in the hunt for the Serie A title.

McKennie reached 200 appearances with Juventus last month as he plays out what could be his final season in Italy. The United States men’s national team star has been heavily linked with a move back home to Major League Soccer. It was recently reported that McKennie won’t renew his contract with Juventus.
