It's official: Cristiano Ronaldo signs with Saudi club Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo's job search is over.

Saudi club Al-Nassr announced they signed the Portuguese on a two-year contract. Reports say the deal is worth $75 million per season and will run until the summer of 2025.

The money could increase up to $200 million with add-ons and commercial rights involved.

Al-Nassr appeared in Cristiano Ronaldo's orbit during the 2022 World Cup after the player ended his relationship with Manchester United. Initially, the connection was labeled as a rumor, while CR7 tried to find a suitor among clubs currently playing in the Champions League.

But after not being able to find a team in Europe, the Al-Nassr offer resurfaced.

Several media revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo would be announced on Saturday, December 31, after the match against Al-Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League. However, Al-Nassr couldn't contain the news after and broke it before that game.

Newspaper Al-Arabiya was one of the first media outlets to report the agreement. Hours later, CBS confirmed the information with sources, adding that Cristiano Ronaldo penned the contract on Friday. Their sources also informed that the Portuguese had completed a first round of medical tests, while a second set is expected to be done next week.

Sports newspapers A Bola and Record from Portugal also echoed the news.

"History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves," said Al-Nassr FC in a statement after confirming Cristiano Ronaldo signature.

The Portuguese intenational also shared his opinion about the move. "I'm thrilled for a new experience in a different league and a different country, the vision that Al Nassr has is very inspiring," he said.

Once his playing days in Al Nassr are over, Cristiano Ronaldo will have a role in the Saudi bid for the 2030 World Cup.
