“Who said Messi is better than me?” — Cristiano Ronaldo’s viral response to Messi joke in Mr Beast collaboration video

The Ronaldo-Messi rivalry is still present to this day, even at the start of the Portuguese’s YouTube career. Well, kind of…

Cristiano Ronaldo sparked a buzz among fans with a witty response to taunts about Lionel Messi in a video with YouTuber, MrBeast.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, in one of his many ventures outside of the soccer world, has began his ‘career’ outside of the pitch and on the YouTube scene, most recently teaming up with the world’s most-subscribed YouTuber, James Donaldson (better known as MrBeast), for several collaborations across their channels.

The latest video, titled How Many Goalkeepers Does It Take to Stop Ronaldo?, was posted on Ronaldo’s ‘UR - Cristiano’ channel and had millions of views within hours — with one particular moment making its way around social media.

As expected, the challenge saw Ronaldo taking penalties against different amounts of goalkeepers. At one point, MrBeast himself stood in goal before being joined by his friends in an attempt to stop the Portuguese striker from scoring.

But things took a playful (and now viral) turn when MrBeast teased Ronaldo with jabs about his long-time rival just before the final penalty shot of the challenge.

Ronaldo Messi quote in MrBeast video: "Who said Messi is better than me?"

"Nolan says he doesn't like you, he thinks you're not the GOAT," MrBeast said jokingly. "Nolan's the guy at the end there—he thinks Messi's the GOAT! He even calls it soccer!"

Ronaldo, who has had his fair share of controversial reactions to mentions of the Argentine during his time in Saudi Arabia, burst out laughing and shot back, "Who said Messi's better than me?" as he pointed at Nolan, causing everyone to laugh even harder.

This moment quickly made its way around various social media platforms, with fans calling out Ronaldo for being bothered yet again by the mention of the Argentine's name and others simply highlighting the Al-Nassr striker's sense of humor.
