Watch: USWNT goalkeeping legend Alyssa Naeher scores dramatic 90+9’ minute equalizer

Chicago Stars FC and former United States women’s national team goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has accomplished just about everything one could dream of as a keeper, but checked off one more item from the bucket list on Monday. An Alyssa Naeher goal was scored.

Chicago’s dramatic 3-3 draw against Seattle Reign saw Naeher’s side go down 3-0, but then claw back a tie with the 37-year-old goalkeeper scoring the final goal.

In the ninth minute of stoppage time Chicago whipped a corner into the box and fired a header at goal that was initially saved. A brief scramble saw Naeher get the all-important final touch and equalizer.

Naeher’s golden moment came on her 200th NWSL appearance. She’d made over 400 appearances for club, country and college but had never scored before. Until Monday.

"You just see the heart in that play. Everyone's kind of fighting, everyone's scrapping to get a touch on and just keep the ball alive. We're able to finish it and come away with the point,” Naeher said after the game.

Chicago have suffered a brutal start to the 2025 NWSL season with just nine points after 16 games sitting second-to-last in the league table. Naeher’s late heroics helped her side secure a fourth draw in their previous five games, so perhaps they’re starting to turn things around.
