A Nemanja Matic Stoppage Time Screamer Propels Man U To Epic Comeback Against Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United was a riveting EPL match.

We can even say it clearly exemplified why we love the Premier League so much. There were exhilarating goals, lots of drama and an epic Manchester United comeback thanks to a Nemanja Matic goal.

Against all odds, Crystal Palace took the lead early on as Andros Townsend scored a brilliant curled shot past David De Gea from outside the box.

Even as Manchester United tried to come back, its efforts were unsuccessful throughout the first half.

Two minutes into the second half, Crystal Palace resumed the game quickly after a foul. This caught the Red Devils' defense off guard and left Patrick van Aanholt one-on-one versus De Gea. The shot was too powerful and the Spanish goalkeeper could do nothing to prevent the Eagles' second goal.

Jose Mourinho was enraged in the sidelines. Cameras caught him angrily kicking a bottle of water and immediately apologizing for it to the referees in fear of an incoming ban.

Things were looking bright for Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson as his counter-attack strategy had proven effective.

However, in the 55th minute Manchester United scored its first goal of the match via a header by Chris Smalling.

It was Belgian international Romelu Lukaku who scored the equalizer in the 76th minute after the ball had hit the crossbar.

It seemed as if Crystal Palace and Manchester United would split points in their Monday night EPL fixture.

But then again, this is the EPL, and anything can happen.

Well into stoppage time, a shot by Paul Pogba was blocked and the ball bounced toward Nemanja Matic.

And then, lighting struck.

Matic let the ball bounce and then, when it was at the perfect height, he smashed a mighty shot that torpedoed toward the goal.

The goalkeeper stretched all he could, but it's useless.

3-2. Final whistle blows. Epic comeback.

Jose Mourinho is happy and is no longer seen kicking water bottles.

Manchester United is now second with 62 points.
