Kylian Mbappé Celebrates Turning 20 With Yet Another Goal

Kylian Mbappé sure loves his birthday.

The French starlet turned 20 on Thursday, Dec. 20, having already accomplished more by that age than most footballers can only dream of in their entire careers.

Before turning 20, Mbappé won a World Cup, two Ligue 1 titles and one French Cup. He scored nearly a goal per game (73 in 150 for club and country) and became the first teenager since Pelé to score in a World Cup final.

Mbappé has a habit of turning in strong performances on or around his birthday. In 2016 with Monaco, he had an assist in a 2-1 win over Caen. Last year, a day after Mbappé turned 19, the forward set up this goal with some incredible pace and technique.

On Saturday, Mbappé celebrated his golden birthday in even greater style.

Mbappé played in front of his home fans for the first time since winning the inaugural Kopa Trophy as the best player under the age of 21 a couple weeks ago. He showed off his trophy to his adoring fans.

A match against 13th-place Nantes wasn’t expected to trouble the Parisian giants much, but PSG struggled to break through, even with USMNT defender Matt Miazga left on the Nantes bench.

But PSG eventually scored and none other than Mbappé had the final touch, kicking a corner off the underside of the crossbar and in for a 68th-minute winner.

The goal itself wasn’t anything too spectacular for a player who has made a habit out of scoring amazing goals, but it was a winner in a 1-0 match and kept PSG unbeaten in Ligue 1 play through 2018.
