The Future Of Carli Lloyd Remains Unknown

As the 2019 NWSL season is coming to an end, Sky Blue FC player Carli Lloyd is starting to think about the future of her football career. And I am not talking about her kicking career in the NFL.

Lloyd has been a crucial part of Sky Blue FC as well as the USWNT throughout her career, and although she hasn’t made a decision on her future yet, the next women's national team coach may help make her decision. After tallying the lone goal in Sky Blue’s 1-1 draw with the Orlando Pride on Sunday, Lloyd said, “I’d love to play in another Olympics, if given that opportunity and a fair shot, and then we’ll kind of go from there.”

After the Women’s World Cup final where she and the USWNT brought home the World Cup title, Lloyd said she was considering retirement, especially after being an option off the bench for the U.S. the past several years. This difficult adjustment of not being a crucial entity to the USWNT roster has caused her to think of when her time to step away from the game will come.

Despite her age she has said she still feels healthy enough to continue playing for as long as her body allows. Lloyd said she will take it day-by-day to figure out what would be the most ideal situation for her and her husband. Now all we can do is wait to see when the future of legend Carli Lloyd will be decided.

Sky Blue FC will finish out their 2019 NWSL season on the road against North Carolina Courage on Oct. 12 after missing out on a playoff spot.
