Mapi León's 25-yard missile fires Barcelona into Champions League semifinals

Barcelona vs. Roma was the biggest mismatch of the Women's Champions League quarterfinals on paper, and so it proved over two legs as Barça stormed to a 6-1 aggregate victory over the Italian side.

After winning 1-0 in Rome last week, Barcelona scored five at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night through Fridolina Rolfö's brace and further goals from Mapi León, Asisat Oshoala and Patri Guijarro.

Italy international Annamaria Serturini was able to score one for La Lupa in Catalonia.

Oshoala chested the ball down for Rolfö to rifle home on Barcelona's opening goal in the 11th-minute, and León doubled their advantage in the 33rd with a spectacular effort from 25 yards out. Roma keeper Camelia Ceasar could only wave at the incoming missile.

The 27-year-old center back has been at her very best this season, scoring twice in the UWCL to go along with three goals and six assists in Liga F. However, despite having 54 caps for Spain, she's one of the 15 players whose World Cup participation is still in question after falling out with manager Jorge Vilda.

Let's hope that situation gets resolved because she deserves to be there, as does her teammate Guijarro. She's another one of the 15 and got Barça's final goal of the evening.

Barcelona now awaits the winner of Chelsea vs. Lyon in the semifinals. The Blues hold a 1-0 aggregate lead ahead of Thursday's return leg at Stamford Bridge.

The semifinal legs will be played Apr. 22/23 and Apr. 29/30.
