Malik Tillman’s move to Leverkusen makes him second-most expensive USMNT transfer ever

The list of the most expensive USMNT transfers looks a little different following Malik Tillman’s €35 million ($41 million) move from PSV to Bayer Leverkusen. The news of the transfer was reported on Saturday.

Tillman passes AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun for the second-most expensive USMNT transfer in history. Christian Pulisic’s 2019 move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea still sits comfortable at No. 1.

Top 10 most expensive USMNT transfers

  1. Christian Pulisic ($73 million move from Dortmund to Chelsea)
  2. Malik Tillman ($41 million move from PSV to Bayer Leverkusen)
  3. Folarin Balogun ($32.5 million move from Arsenal to AS Monaco)
  4. Brenden Aaronson ($30 million move from Red Bull Salzburg to Leeds United)

It’s interesting to note that all 10 of these transfers happened in the previous six years. The rise in transfer fees has exploded with the cost for players seemingly increasing every transfer window.

Tillman is not only the second-most expensive American transfer of all time, but he’s also Leverkusen’s biggest incoming transfer.
