Christian Pulisic nearly scores for third straight Serie A game as AC Milan defeat Roma 2-1

A fantastic save denied Christian Pulisic his third goal of the season as AC Milan defeated Roma 2-1 in Serie A on Friday. The USMNT star played 75 minutes in the Italian capital in a relatively quiet night compared to his first two games.

Pulisic’s best chance of the game came in the 22nd minute. The American winger made a great run to get by his defender and get on the end of a beautiful cross from Theo Hernández.

Pulisic vs Roma

Paramount+ was all-in on the Pulisic Milan action as they had a camera dedicated to Captain America all game.

It was by no means a bad game for Pulisic who was given a warm applause from the traveling Milan fans when subbed out of the game. He just didn’t quite have as large of an impact on the game as he did in the previous two.

His stats from Friday include completing 19 of his 20 passes, a shot on target and two unsuccessful dribbles. Not an amazing game but not a terrible game.

He was involved in the build-up of the Rossoneri’s second goal, but all the credit must go to Rafael Leão for this incredibly creative goal.

Milan went down to 10 men in the 61st minute when Fikayo Tomori was sent off for a second yellow card. Roma couldn’t make the most of being a player up for 30 minutes as Milan held on for the win.

The ending of the game did get nervy as Leonardo Spinazzola scored late in the 92nd minute.

Next up will be the international break and Milan couldn’t be happier with their start to Serie A after three wins from three games.

Pulisic’s next taste of action will be for the U.S. on Sept. 9 as the Stars and Stripes host Uzbekistan at CITYPARK in St. Louis, Missouri. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. ET.
