Watch: Ángel Correa completely destroys Houston Dynamo goalkeeper for incredible 1v1 goal in Leagues Cup debut

Former Atlético Madrid striker and World Cup winner Ángel Correa announced his arrival at Tigres UANL in spectacular fashion, netting a brace — including an outrageous solo goal — to lead the Liga MX club to a 4-1 demolition of Houston Dynamo in the opening match day of the 2025 Leagues Cup at Shell Energy Stadium.

The Argentine forward, fresh off his high-profile move from LaLiga, needed just 45 minutes to open his account for Tigres in the Leagues Cup.

His first goal was a statement in itself: collecting the ball outside the box, Correa spun his marker with a filthy turn before unleashing a low strike that flew past a stunned Jonathan Bond in the opening goal of the night.

But it was his second — and Tigres' third — in the 70th minute that stole the spotlight. Picking up the ball near the halfway line, Correa 'walked onto the box' with a flurry of Ronaldo Nazário-esque body feints, completely 'embarrassing' Bond in a 1v1 before calmly slotting home to give Tigres a two-goal cushion.

Incredible.

Diego Lainez and Ozziel Herrera also got in on the action, rounding off the scoring for the Liga MX side in a dominant performance. Ondrej Lingr pulled one back for Houston, but the night belonged to Correa and Tigres, who sent a powerful message in their bid for continental glory.

For Tigres fans, the hype is real. Ángel Correa has landed — and if this performance is anything to go by, he’s only getting started.
