USWNT fans again express their disappointment with Lindsey Horan’s performances

The United States women’s national team advanced to the gold medal match with a 1-0 victory vs. Germany on Tuesday, however not all USA fans were impressed.

American captain Lindsey Horan has received the most criticism of any USWNT player on the field after a string of poor performances. Her two knockout games against Japan and Germany saw careless giveaways that sprung attacks for the opponent and sluggish play in the midfield.

We at The18 even put out an opinion piece that head coach Emma Hayes should think about benching Horan.

Hayes used Horan for the entire 120 minutes against Japan in the quarterfinal but opted to take out the 30-year-old after 90 minutes against Germany. The USWNT scored shortly after Horan’s exit in extra time.

Horan completed 74% of her passes vs. the Germans, didn’t complete either of her two attempts to dribble past opponents and didn’t record any accurate crosses.

USWNT fans were livid with Horan.

It’s unlikely that Horan will be benched for the final on Saturday. USWNT fans will have to hope Horan has saved her best for last, as we’ve yet to see her best in these Olympics.
