The fairytale story of “Welcome to Wrexham” has followed the story of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney securing an unprecedented three-straight promotions with Wrexham AFC. In August we’re going to get the polar opposite with a docuseries of NFL icon Tom Brady’s ownership with Birmingham City.
Brady is calling out the Wrexham boys.
“Built In Birmingham: Brady & The Blues” will be a five-part series covering Birmingham City’s relegation to League One in the 2023-24 season, Brady’s first season as an owner. The series will then recap the club’s fight back to the EFL Championship in the 2024-25 campaign.
A preview of the series was posted on July 10 and presents a far fiercer tone than that of Wrexham, highlighting the struggles of a club that has had little to celebrate in the past two decades.
Tom Brady Birmingham docuseries
Brady takes a shot at Wrexham in the documentary telling the Welsh club that, “we’re coming for your ass.”
Birmingham and Wrexham finished top of the League One table last season with Brady’s side claiming first place. The two clubs played twice with a draw and Birmingham victory.
The series will also cover the interesting angle of Brady’s impact on the fans and his journey of learning the sport. During the trailer several fans are interviewed and it’s clear they have no idea who the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star is.
The five-part series will be released on Prime Video on Aug. 1.
