Liverpool Debuts 2019-20 Jersey With Hilarious Behind The Scenes Video

Next season is the last thing on Liverpool supporters’ minds at the moment with the club through to the Champions League semifinals (where they’ll meet Lionel Messi’s Barcelona) and involved in one of the most exciting Premier League title run-ins ever. However, New Balance launched Liverpool’s jersey for the upcoming season today, and it draws influence from both the past and future of the historic club.

What sticks out about the new kits is the stripes, which pay homage to the shirts that Liverpool wore during the 1982-83 season. That was manager Bob Paisley’s last year at the helm, and the club celebrated with a First Division and League Cup double.

Paisley was born in 1919, so 2019 would’ve marked his 100th year (he passed away in 1996 at the age of 77). The manager’s signature is featured on the inside of the neck. The jersey’s red color is also noticeably brighter than the last few editions.
