Christian Pulisic ends goal drought and bags a brace to earn Milan 3-2 comeback victory

Two Christian Pulisic goals vs Lecce on Saturday ended the American’s month-long goal drought and gave AC Milan three points they desperately needed.

Milan looked on course for a fourth consecutive Serie A defeat when the hosts took a two-goal lead at the hour mark. It looked like Milan manager Sergio Conceicao was going to be coaching his final 30 minutes for the Italian giants, but then his side did the unthinkable.

Pulisic goals vs Lecce

Pulisic — who had to publicly deny rumors of getting into an argument with Conceicao after not starting and being substituted early in several games last month — played a major role in Milan’s comeback on Saturday.

The American won Milan a penalty kick in the 72nd minute after being brought down in the box. There was some question as to if Pulisic would take the penalty after missing his last one for Milan against Torino on Feb. 22.

He made no mistake against Lecce and tied the game at 2-2.

What a strike from the American.

Pulisic’s day got even better eight minutes later when Rafael Leão put it on a dime at the back post for the American to squeeze over the line.

After failing to score in his last eight games, Saturday’s brace will be a monumental weight off his shoulders. Pulisic still leads Milan with the most goals across all competitions with 14 on the season.

Milan face an uphill battle to finish in the top six and qualify for any European competition next season. The Rossoneri sit eighth in the league and eight points adrift from the top four.
