U.S. Soccer Will Host Second SheBelieves Cup

U.S. Soccer has announced that they will host the second annual SheBelieves Cup. From March 1-7, 2017, four out of the five top ranked teams in the world will travel to the northeast region of the U.S. to compete. Germany, France and England will join the USA in the most elite international tournament of the year. USA is currently ranked number one in the world, with Germany coming in second, France in third and England in fifth.

“It’s fantastic to play these three teams in the first three games of the year,” U.S. head coach Jill Ellis explained. “As I’ve said many times, one of our main goals is to play the best teams in the world as often as possible and we have tremendous respect for France, Germany and England, which all feature world class players at multiple positions. To hold this tournament at home is great for our fans and TV partners, but especially for our players and our coaching staff as these are the kinds of games where we get tested and can really learn a lot about ourselves.”

This year’s tournament will be set up the same way as last year where each team will participate in three doubleheader events at three separate stadiums. The winner will be declared after calculating each team's points. Teams will receive three points for a win and one point for a tie.

#SheBelieves is a movement created by the players of the USWNT. The campaign was launched in 2015 to inspire and encourage young girls to follow their dreams and accomplish their goals. The #SheBelieves campaign has continued to grow over the years by sending positive messages and creating a special bond between the players and their fans. The USWNT would like to thank their fans for the love and support and remind all girls that they can be the best at what they do.

Ticket information will be announced in the near future. For more information about the SheBelieves Cup click here.
