Monday Murmurs: Transfer News For The Week Of July 21st, 2014

Super Mario staying in Milan?

There have been rumors swirling for a while that Mario Balotelli would be on the move to Arsenal. But it seems that the Gunners have moved past Italian international and that the always-entertaining Balotelli will stay in Milan this upcoming season. According to Goal.com, AC Milan are interesting in selling Super Mario and would accept a €20 million offer for the striker. Arsenal was interested in Balotelli, but after signing Alexis Sanches, Arsene Wenger has ruled out adding another striker. “Up front we don’t need any more,” he said. Wenger said the club is going to target a goalkeeper and will keep an eye on his midfield's health. AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said the Italian side has not received any formal bids for Balo, so it seems like the ship has sailed on a return to the Premier League for Super Mario.

Sami Khedira situation is all over the place

About 24 hours ago rumors swirled the internet that Arsenal and Real Madrid agreed on a €24 million fee for midfielder Sami Khedira. Now, those rumors are being put to rest as it seems that Arsenal won’t be getting the German international afyter all. Along with Chelsea, the Gunners were hot on the Khedira trail, but it seems like Real Madrid will either sell him to French side Monaco, or keep the midfielder who had a fantastic World Cup. There are still reports that a deal could possibly go through and land Khedira in the red and white, but Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin, Bayer Leverkusen star Lars Bender and Sporting Lisbon ace William Carvalho were named as possible new targets. Only time will solve this mess where it seems like almost no one knows what's actually happening (but, isn't that really part of the fun!).

Juventus add Evra, what about Vidal and Pogba?

It was known for a while that Evra was likely on his way out from Old Trafford after the signing of Luke Shaw, and the long time Manchester United man who has registered over 300 appearances for the club is on his way to Italy. Juventus and the Red Devils agreed to an undisclosed amount that is thought to be in the range of £1.5 million. Evra sent out a letter expressing his thanks to the clubs for all the memories, but now the question for Juventus becomes if Vidal or Pogba will be on their way out. It’s clear that Manchester United are keen on signing Vidal, who actually put his house in Italy up for sale. The Red Devils are apparently ready to offer £40 million for the Chilean star, which would out him on the same level as Robin van Persie and second to Wayne Rooney in terms of wages. Juventus director Pavel Nedved suggested that Juve do not want to sell Vidal but would have to consider a huge bid. He told Tuttosport: "Our strategy is clear; we want to keep all our best players, including Vidal and Pogba." Pogba’s name came up this weekend in links with a possible move to Liverpool with Brendan Rodgers trying to make the most of the money made from the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, but the likelihood of that move seems bleak.

El Nino returning to Madrid?

According to Eurosport, Altetico chief executive Miguel Angel Dil Marin has been in London discussing a possible deal that would send Fernando Torres back to his boyhood club. Chelsea are asking for a £13 million fee for the Spain international, but Atleti are trying to reduce that number. Jose Mourinho and Chelsea seem to be interested in Atleti defender Joao Mirando and could try and negotiate a price for him in part of the Torres deal.

Liverpool looking to add more pieces

Brendan Rodgers side has arrived in the United States for preseason training as he tries to add more pieces to a side that has lots to spend after selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona. The Reds are close to signing Southampton defender Dejan Lovren, who would be the third Southampton player to join Liverpool along with striker Rickie Lambert and midfielder Adam Lallana. The Reds are also looking to add striker Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers and hope they can sort out a deal for Belgium international striker Divock Origi. Daily Mail also came out today and said the club was also interested in Karim Benzema, but that deal is unlikely.
