How Fast Is Jürgen Damm? The Terrifying Pace Of The Mexican Winger Revealed

How fast is Jürgen Damm? Since joining Tigres from Pachuca in 2015, the flying winger has used his blistering pace to help the club to its most successful era ever. His presence on the right wing has been instrumental in back-to-back-to-back Apertura championships, and although the 25-year-old has always struggled for consistency in the final third, his pace makes him a force to be reckoned with.

It’s perhaps his inability to generate more in the final phase of the attack that saw him left off Mexico’s World Cup squad despite being included in the preliminary 28-man roster. During the entirety of last season, Damm made 34 appearances while scoring only one goal. However, he did provide seven assists.

But it’s his ability to beat his man out wide that saw Tigres pay Pachuca $8 million for his services, and his wicked speed has been well documented. Back in 2015, Damm’s former club released a study that named him the third fastest footballer on the planet. With a top speed of 35.23 kph (21.89 mph), only Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Flamengo’s Orlando Berrio are faster.

Damm had a difficult start to the calendar year, suffering first-degree burns on his face from a fireworks injury on New Year’s Eve before being led out of El Pollo Loco in handcuffs later that month (it turned out to be a simple misunderstanding between the Tigres player and police).

However, things have since approved as Damm registered his first assist of the 2018 Apertura season on August 12 against Toluca.

It’s a common refrain in Mexico, but this could be the season that Damm finally delivers.
