USMNT Defender/Midfielder Fabian Johnson Reportedly Eyeing MLS Move

Longtime U.S. men's national team member Fabian Johnson is seeking a move to MLS, according to a report.

Kristian Dyer of Sports Illustrated tweeted that Johnson, who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach of the Bundesliga, has been in contact with "multiple" MLS teams through his agent.

Johnson's Bundesliga contract expires soon and he will become a free agent. Dyer said Johnson is seeking a Designated Player contract.

Johnson, 32, has played in Germany since beginning his pro career in 2004 and has been with Monchengladbach since 2014. A defender/midfielder, Johnson has two goals in 57 appearances with the U.S. men's national team but gained his most recent cap for the team since 2017 and is not on the active roster.
