Didier Drogba has officially joined USL side Phoenix Rising as a player and (really) owner. Drogba's minority ownership stake in the team will allow him to transition to a front office role after playing this season. He will join former Chelsea teammate Shaun Wright-Phillips in Phoenix.

Phoenix Rising will probably be very good, because Drogba was a good MLS player, albeit one who refused to play on turf or come off the bench, last season for the Montreal Impact. It follows, then, that he can at least be a productive USL player.
As for his ownership and front office executive nonsense abilities, we'll just have to wait and see, but it's important to remember that one time Drogba halted a civil war. He can do anything.
