A Spurs free kick vs AZ Alkmaar during their 1-0 defeat in the Europa League on Thursday is going viral after a planned routine went horribly awry.
Down a goal, Tottenham had a chance to find an equalizer after being given a free kick just outside the penalty box. James Maddison stood over the ball and looked ready to fire in a shot at the host’s goal.
Instead Spurs tried a planned routine off the training ground that immediately turned into a disaster. Maddison attempted a quick one-two with Son Heung-min and the opportunity was squandered.

It doesn’t get any more Spurs than that.
The goal that the London club conceded was also comical. A Lucas Bergvall own goal in the 18th minute proved to be the game-winner of the Round of 16 first leg. Begvall’s attempted clearance sailed right into his own net in yet another Spurs blooper.

The last month has been especially rough for Spurs as they were eliminated from the EFL Cup, FA Cup and now face an uphill battle to stay in the Europa League. They sit 13th in the Premier League.
