Tyler Adams Discusses Missing His Mom, Life As American Playing In Leipzig

Tyler Adams has come a long way since his awkward introduction to RB Leipzig at the start of 2019. The 21-year-old missed the first half of the 2019-20 season with a groin injury but had an exceptional second half and made his Champions League debut. RB Leipzig caught up with the American midfielder before he headed back to New York for the summer break.

Important Tyler Adams Takeaways

1. We can't say for sure how much Red Bull Adams drank. I personally avoid drinking toxic waste in a can and rely on coffee to keep me alive in the mornings.

2. His first choice for who to play against in the Champions League is PSG and specifically Kylian Mbappé. Adams and the French star have only met once before when the USMNT played a friendly against France in 2018 before the World Cup. The U.S. drew the eventual champions 1-1. Another advantage of drawing PSG is with Ligue 1 being canceled the Parisian club hasn’t played a meaningful match since March 11. The Champions League will finish with a tournament in Lisbon at the start of August.

3. Mom’s cooking can’t ever be beat and not seeing Mom for an extended period of time is brutal. Make sure to show your Mom some appreciate today.

4. Timothy Weah and Adams are going to become RB Leipzig’s next power duo. Weah hasn’t been able to recreate the magic of his legendary father George Weah quite yet. After a relatively successful loan spell with Celtic, he has been faced with injury issues since signing with Ligue 1 side Lille.

The 20-year-old has been dealing with a recurring right hamstring injury for nearly a year now. Weah only made three appearances with Lille before he tore his right hamstring on Feb. 16. Perhaps the next step in his career is a move to Leipzig with Adams.
