Premier League Title Race Fixtures: The Last Remaining Games For Man City And Liverpool

The Premier League title race doesn’t seem like it will be decided until the final matchday. Liverpool and Manchester City both picked up a vital three points this past weekend, with City winning 3-1 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and Liverpool with an emphatic 2-0 win against Chelsea at Anfield.

Liverpool ended the weekend at the top of the table, on 85 points, although Man City maintains a game in hand. The last few weeks are crucial to both teams: Maximum points are probably needed if there's any hope of winning the title for either side. Here are the final matches of the season for the Premier League title race contenders.

Premier League Title Race Fixtures

Liverpool

League Position (as of 04/19): 1st | Points: 85 | Matches To Go: 4

Sunday, 4/21: 18th place Cardiff City (A)

Friday, 4/26: 20th place Huddersfield Town (H)

Sunday, 5/5: 15th place Newcastle United (A)

Sunday 5/12: 8th place Wolves (H)

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has by far the easier run-in. Every opponent, theoretically, should translate to three points won by the Reds, but Wolves have been known for stealing points from the big teams and giving them to the small teams this season, and the EPL's bogey team could end Liverpool’s title hopes on the final day . . . at Anfield no less. Based on Liverpool’s form though, that probably won’t be the case.

Manchester City

League Position (as of 04/19): 2nd | Points: 83 | Matches To Go: 5

Saturday, 4/20: 3rd place Tottenham (H)

Wednesday, 4/24: 6th place Manchester United (A)

Sunday, 4/28: 14th place Burnley (A)

Saturday, 5/4: 7th place Leicester City (H)

Sunday, 5/12: 17th place Brighton (A)

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has a match in hand on Liverpool and absolutely cannot drop points against any teams from now until May 12.

City’s third match against Tottenham in 11 days (the clubs also vie in the quarters of the Champions League) will be the start of the final matches of its title defense. What could be a blessing or curse for City is that its match in hand on Liverpool is against cross town rivals Manchester United four days later.

United has been chasing a top four spot and would love to spoil City’s title hopes. City’s last three games are all winnable, but fans and neutrals alike are questioning whether or not City can win its last five.

This season’s Premier League has been nothing short of a nail biter and probably won't be decided until the final whistle blows. Will the trophy be heading back to Manchester for another year or will Merseyside finally break its Premier League drought?
