Nike Begins Buildup To Women’s World Cup With Empowering “Dream Crazier” Ad

During the Oscars TV broadcast on Sunday night, Nike debuted the “Dream Crazier” ad to mark the start of the company’s push toward this summer’s Women’s World Cup in France.

The commercial is a follow-up to the “Dream Crazy” spot which featured narration by Colin Kaepernick and appearances by the USWNT and Canadian international Alphonso Davies.

The “Dream Crazier” ad is narrated by Serena Williams and focuses on the double standard that's applied to women in sport. The USWNT takes center stage when Williams mentions “equal opportunity” and the resulting backlash against those who advocate for it as “delusional.”

It’s no coincidence that the player given a close-up at that exact moment in the commercial is Megan Rapinoe, an advocate for numerous LGBT organizations and a source of controversy following her decision to kneel during the national anthem in solidarity with Kaepernick back in 2016.

The latest Nike ad also features a brief appearance from Australian international Sam Kerr, who can be seen backflipping to celebrate a goal.
