The #deBoerOut Twitter Account Is The Satire We All Need

After winning MLS Cup in its second season as a club, Atlanta United struggled following the departure of manager Tata Martino.

They were thoroughly outplayed by Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals, won one out of their first six matches of the 2019 MLS season and couldn't muster anything going forward. Martino's replacement, 49-year-old Dutchman Frank de Boer, became the scapegoat for Atlanta fans.

And out of the frustration and anger rising from the state of Georgia, the #deBoerOut Twitter account was born.

The account is clearly satirical, but it provides something for the rest of the league to take joy in. Even some Atlanta fans can find some humor in it all.

As most people expected, Atlanta eventually hit the ground running again, winning five consecutive matches without conceding a goal. The #deBoerOut account kept rolling though:

Since its five-game winning streak, Atlanta has lost two matches and fans are turning against de Boer again. The #deBoerOut account is using it to fuel the satire.

Who said soccer always had to be so serious?
