The LA Galaxy Are Back And Better Without Zlatan Ibrahimović

After beginning the season 0-2-3, the Los Angeles Galaxy have turned it on and scorched everyone in their path with four consecutive victories, the latest victim being LAFC.

Two weeks after the Galaxy blanked LAFC 2-0 for the first cleansheet effort for either side in El Tráfico history, goalkeeper David Bingham registered another shutout on Sunday, his second of the season.

After a scoreless first half, Galaxy forward Cristian Pavón chipped an easy one over LAFC keeper Pablo Sisniega, who got stuck over-extending himself in the 51st minute.

LAFC would be reduced to 10 men after Mark-Anthony Kaye checked Galaxy defender Julian Araujo into oblivion.

The Galaxy would not let up as LAFC attempted to park the bus. After the red card, the Galaxy’s only starting striker, Ethan Zubak, was pulled for the versatile midfielder Jonathan dos Santos.

In the 73rd, Pavón had another good look on a free kick but hit Sebastian Lletget on the penalty spot, who drilled in his first of the night past Sisniega.

Even with the chilling 2-0 dagger, Lletget was not finished as his second goal had some flash on it to end any LAFC hope. The USMNT midfielder nailed the bicycle kick in the 83rd into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.

The Galaxy have found their groove after looking truly lost following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the first five games of the season. The team was outscored five goals to 11 but has now registered goals that would make Ibra proud. In the win streak, the Galaxy has outscored opponents 11 to four.

The Galaxy next faces San Jose on Sunday, Sep. 13. They beat them 3-2 back on Aug. 29.

Another victory would tie last season's best win streak of five.
