50,000 Tickets Immediately Sold As Barça Women Return To Camp Nou For UWCL Semifinals

After setting the women's soccer attendance record of 91,553 last Wednesday in a thrilling Champions League quarterfinal victory over eternal rival Real Madrid, Barcelona is aiming for a similar turnout Friday, April 22, when the club hosts Wolfsburg in their semifinal first leg.

Prior to the Real Madrid game, Barcelona Femení had only played inside the Camp Nou once, but that was in 2021 when Covid measures still prohibited fans from attending matches. The team usually plays at the 6,000-seat Johan Cruyff Stadium at the club's Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground, but the fans had long-awaited a chance to celebrate their 2021 Champions League and back-to-back-to-back Primera División winners in the big house.

It couldn't have gone any better with a record-setting crowd, an electric atmosphere, some incredible goals and an emphatic win, so Barcelona is targeting more of the same come April 22.

After defeating Real 8-3 on aggregate, Barça is facing a much sterner test in the semis. Wolfsburg's leading the Frauen-Bundesliga with a four-point gap over Bayern Munich, and Die Wölfinnen eliminated Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.

It's clear now that while there's no denying the draw of El Clásico, Barcelona supporters simply want to see their world-beaters take on any potential challengers. Before tickets went on sale to the general public for the Wolfsburg match, 50,000 were made available to club members. Those were all snatched up in a matter of hours.

They might not reach 91,553 this time, but it's going to be another massive night that drums up intrigue and interest while showcasing one of the world's most exciting teams across all of sports.

There's a lesson to be learned here, like maybe owners should support the women's side of their clubs before foraying into some bullshit NFT range.
