A spectacular Lionel Messi goal vs Sporting KC opened the scoring of Inter Miami’s 3-1 victory in the second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup on Tuesday. Miami won 4-1 on aggregate.
Messi got the home crowd at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on their feet in the 19th minute with a golazo from the top of the box. Luis Suarez found his former Barcelona teammate with a cross and Messi finished beautifully on the half volley.

Messi had scored the lone goal in the first leg on a frigid night in Kansas City six days prior. He doubled the Herons’ aggregate lead with another highlight reel goal in the second leg.
Messi’s team put their foot on the gas to close out the first half with two goals in stoppage time. Jordi Alba located Tadeo Allende with a precise cross to make it 2-0 on the night.

Minutes later Suarez got his goal after a mix-up at the back for Sporting KC. The 38-year-old finished fantastically with an acrobatic finish.

Miami’s next opponent in the competition will be Caribbean Cup champions Cavalier from Jamaica. Messi and company will look to improve from last season when they fell in the quarterfinal to Monterrey.
