Watch: Wrexham’s Paul Mullin scores late candidate for best goal of 2024 with insane screamer

An incredible Paul Mullin goal vs Blackpool was a late Christmas gift for Wrexham as every American’s favorite Welsh club secured a 2-1 victory on Thursday.

Wrexham achieved back-to-back promotions and now play with some of the bigger clubs in League One (England’s third tier on the soccer ladder). On Thursday the club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continued their chase for a third promotion with some help from star striker Mullin.

After conceding in the third minute, Wrexham responded with a Mullin missile in the 24th minute.

Paul Mullin goal vs Blackpool

That’s an unbelievable display of skill from Mullin. The control and finish on the volley are world class.

That goal will come as a relief for Mullin who has struggled this season in League One. The 30-year-old forward had only scored once in his previous 19 league games with Wrexham. For comparison, he scored 24 goals in 38 league games last season in League Two. In the 2022-23 season he scored 38 goals in 46 National League appearances.

Thursday was also his only sixth start of the 2024-25 campaign.

Wrexham scored a late winner from a penalty in the 88th minute to send the home fans at the Racecourse Ground into a frenzy.

Wrexham sit third in League One with 45 points from 22 games. The clubs that finish first and second in the league will secure promotion to the EFL Championship. Clubs that end up third thru sixth will compete in a promotion playoff.
