Leeds United dealt huge blow as Tyler Adams will miss remainder of season with injury

Leeds United and USMNT defensive midfielder Tyler Adams will miss the rest of the 2022-23 season after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury.

Adams missed Leeds’ final game before the March international window, a 4-2 victory vs. Wolves, with a hamstring issue. The problem is more severe than originally anticipated and the American will be out for an extended period.

The injury occurred during training with Leeds.

This is a massive blow for Leeds and new manager Javi Garcia as the club is in the middle of a fierce relegation battle. Adams has arguably been Leeds’ best player all season and now the club will be without him for the final 11 games.

Leeds sits two points clear of the relegation zone.

Tyler Adams injury

Filling Adam’s role in the midfield for Leeds will be American teammate Weston McKennie and Marc Roca. McKennie was asked about the situation with Adams after the USMNT’s win against Grenada and said the loss was “devastating.”

The injury bug hasn’t been kind for Leeds this international window as star forward Wilfried Gnoto suffered a sprained ankle while playing for Italy. Meanwhile defender Maximilian Wöber is dealing with a hamstring issue that he picked up during international duty with Austria.

There will be monumental amounts of pressure on Leeds to stay up. The first game back from the international break couldn’t be any more difficult as a trip to Emirates Stadium against league-leaders Arsenal awaits.
