Carlos Tevez Announces His Retirement After Turning Down An Offer To Play In MLS

Carlos Tevez is done playing professionally. The 38-year-old announced on Saturday that he will be hanging up his boots for good after 20 years of playing.

Tevez will be fondly remembered for his time in the Premier League with West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City. The Argentine hasn’t played in the past year after he left Boca Juniors citing burnout. The loss of his father due to Covid-19 in Feb. 2021 also contributed to his decision.

Despite not playing for the past year Tevez still had offers to join teams said the Argentine.

“I have retired, it is confirmed,” Tevez told Mundo Albiceleste. “They offered me many things, including from the United States. But that's it, I have given everything.

“Playing the last year was very difficult but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan.”

Tevez finished his international career with 76 appearances for Argentina and 13 goals. For club some of his highlights were three Premier Leagues, two Serie A titles with Juventus, the Champions League with Manchester United, five league titles in Argentina and one in Brazil.
