Tata Martino leaving Inter Miami after the best regular season in Major Leaugue Soccer history is the last thing fans expected.
According to Give Me Sport’s Tom Bogert, Martino has left Inter Miami for personal reasons despite having one year left on his coaching contract with the club. This comes 10 days after Miami’s stunning first-round playoff exit vs. Atlanta United.

Tata Martino has left Inter Miami for personal reasons, reports @tombogert
As manager he led Miami to a record-breaking 2024 regular season, winning the Supporters' Shield but falling short in the MLS Cup playoffs. pic.twitter.com/6eq7id6tMq— B/R Football (@brfootball) November 19, 2024
Martino had been in charge of the Herons since June 2023 and with the help of Lionel Messi, led the team to the 2023 Leagues Cup triumph and set a league record for most points in a season with the 2024 Supporters’ Shield.
Inter Miami also qualified for the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup next summer.
Prior to Inter Miami, Martino was a head coach for Atlanta United, Mexico, Argentina, Barcelona and more.
David Beckham and the Inter Miami owners will need to find a top manager for what will be an incredibly challenging 2025 calendar with a new MLS season, the Club World Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup.
We’re just throwing this out there, but how cool would it be to see one more former Barcelona man join the club and have Xavi as the new head coach?
