Orlando Pride and USWNT player Sydney Leroux is the epitome of a bad a$$ mom. After having her first son Cassius in 2016, Leroux returned playing for the Pride and USWNT. Three years later Leroux found herself in a similar position after birthing her baby girl,.
Sydney Leroux took her first step back onto the pitch exactly three months and one day after giving birth to the newest Dwyer family member, Roux Dwyer. Head coach Marc Skinner was hopeful that Leroux would be able to find herself back on the Pride roster in New Jersey against Sky Blue FC on Sunday. And Leroux did not disappoint.
Leroux returned to training with the Pride squad on Aug. 6, which was less than six weeks after giving birth to her second child. She for sure has proven herself to be mother of the year. Having to balance two young children, one of whom is still unsure of his new baby sister, it seems like Sydney and Dom Dwyer have their plates full, however they both have continued their professional soccer careers.

In the 86th minute of the Orlando Pride’s 1-1 draw with Sky Blue FC, it was Leroux’s time to shine. It was an emotional moment for her as she had not played a game minute with the Pride since September 2018. The crowd of 8,314 fans in the Red Bull Arena stood to cheer for this powerhouse athlete and mother.
Her fellow teammates welcomed her back onto the pitch and after the final whistle they took a moment to celebrate the true inspiration Leroux has brought to their team as well as the game. No mother should have to give up her dream even after having two kids. The moment she shared with her newest daughter, Roux, is one that she should cherish forever.
I love this game. This past year was filled with so many ups and downs but I made a promise to myself that I would come back. No matter how hard that would be. It’s been a long road but I did it. 3 months and one day after I gave birth to my baby girl. pic.twitter.com/t89zsaAVSh
