As the calendar approaches Halloween, Sergiño Dest is having a truly horrifying streak of missed chances in LaLiga. Barcelona fell 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday in league action and a brutal Sergiño Dest miss could have been the difference.
With Barcelona trailing in the 36th minute, Memphis Depay made a brilliant move to fire in a dangerous cross toward the back post. Dest timed his run to perfection, and with the speed of a bullet he got on to the end of Depay’s cross. The only issue was Dest fired the ball into the stratosphere.

Barcelona manager (for not much longer) Ronald Koeman has tested Dest out at the right wing position for the past three games. We’re quickly discovering that the American is a defender for a reason.
During Sunday’s El Clásico, Dest had another brutal miss that could have well been the difference in Barcelona losing.

One player who could finish was Radamel Falcao who grabbed the game’s only goal and his fourth against Barcelona in four games.

USMNT fans know Dest is capable of scoring goals. Apparently the soon-to-be 21-year-old only knows how to score screamers.

Barcelona has one game left in October and it’s on the eve of Halloween. Legend has it that if the moon is full Dest will complete his transformation into Timo Werner and miss a wide-open sitter.
Barcelona hosts Alavés at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 30. The match up will feature two Americans as Matt Miazga will try to prevent Dest from getting any looks on goal.
