Welcome to Miami, bienvenido a Miami: Lionel Messi is here

The Messi clan has arrived in the United States. Disembarking from their $15.5 million private jet, Lionel, Antonela, Thiago, Ciro and Mateo were recorded at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport on Tuesday afternoon, just hours after the official Lionel Messi presentation date and time was confirmed by Inter Miami.

This travel experience is nothing new for the Messi family as they've frequented Miami during the offseason. It hasn't been confirmed where they'll be living permanently, but for now the Messis will reside at the Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach.

Back in 2019, Messi purchased a $7 million unit with stunning views of Miami Beach. It's a 5,382-square-foot apartment with an indoor pool and an elevator that takes Messi directly to his garage and vast car collection.

They had also previously purchased a penthouse in the Regalia Tower back in 2021 for $7.3 million before selling it for the absurd price of $20.5 million the following year. Saudi Arabia clearly wasn't necessary to get the boys through college.

But they've got time to settle in before the official unveiling of Messi as an Inter Miami player, which has been confirmed for DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday, July 16 at 6 p.m. ET.

His debut will then come five days later when Inter Miami hosts Cruz Azul on Friday, July 21 at DRV PNK Stadium. My first instinct is to say that he'll make an appearance off the bench, but I've been watching Lionel Messi for a long time and the man genuinely hates not going 90 minutes, regardless of the competition/circumstances.

My favorite thing about this all is that Sergio Busquets, perhaps the finest defensive midfielder of his generation and the biggest loather of attention/social media of his generation, gets to enjoy his dream arrival: totally unnoticed. He's going to love this part of his career.
