USMNT Forward Jordan Pefok Can’t Stop Scoring For Union Berlin — Gets Goal And Assist vs. RB Leipzig

Pefok now has three goals and one assist in four appearances this season across all competitions.

His first goal was a spectacular bicycle kick in the DFB-Pokal and his second was a headed effort in the Berlin derby.

Technically speaking as things stand, Union Berlin will sit at the top of the Bundesliga Saturday night. Bayern will likely retake first but it’s still fun to see Pefok and his new club at the top.

Union Berlin are the ‘Moneyball’ equivalent in Germany and capitalize on being lethal on the counterattack.

According to Transfermarkt, Pefok is in a three-way tie for the most valuable player at the club with a market value of $7.7 million. That market value would be the eighth lowest on RB Leipzig. Leipzig’s most valuable player is Frenchman Christopher Nkunku valued at $88 milliion.

Pefok and Union Berlin made the most of the team’s 26% possession in what was an exciting game. Leipzig had its chances to tie this game most notably with Timo Werner hitting the post in the first half and a goal line clearance from Union Berlin in the second.

Willi Orbán got one goal back for the Red Bulls in the 83rd minute to make it a tense finish.

Schalke is up next for Pefok and Union Berlin Saturday, Aug. 27.
