The Argentine will be stepping down from his role as Argentina’s U20 manager after three years in charge and a most-recent round-of-16 exit in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Mascherano will be succeeding former Inter Miami manager, Gerardo Martino, just three days after his announced exit — following the Fort Lauderdale club’s ‘early’ elimination from the 2024 MLS playoffs in the first round.
This will become the Argentine’s first experience as club manager, with the 40-year-old ‘reuniting’ with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba.
Inter Miami will return to MLS action until 2025, with the 2025 MLS Season commencing on February 22.
