USWNT’s Korbin Albert and Eva Gaetino lift Coupe de France with PSG

Rising United States women’s national team players Korbin Albert and Eva Gaetino lifted their first silverware at the club level on Saturday as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Fleury 1-0 in the Coupe de France.

Both American players were in PSG’s starting lineup with Gaetino, 21, playing the full 90 minutes and Albert, 20, featuring for 64 minutes.

Dutch national team legend Lieke Martens came on for Albert and ended up scoring the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute despite PSG going down a player in the 66th minute.

This was PSG’s fourth time winning the Coupe de France and their first since 2022. France giants Lyon have won nine of the previous 12 editions.

Lindsey Horan and Lyon fell short in the tournament this season losing on penalties in the semifinal to Fleury. Horan was unavailable for the game as she was on international duty in the Concacaf W Gold Cup.

As for Albert and Gaetino they will celebrate this trophy and keep one eye on the league title. This is the first season of the revamped league format.

Rather than the team with the most points winning the Division 1 Féminine, the top four teams advance to a semifinal. PSG will face inner-city rival Paris FC in the semifinal while Lyon waits to find out their opponent.

Gaetino was called up to her first USWNT roster last month for the SheBelieves Cup and is unlikely to be named for the Olympics. Albert on the other hand will be in the mix for one of the 18 Olympic roster spots.
