While FIFA has not officially attributed the price drop to a lack of interest from U.S. fans, the dramatic decrease comes amid concerns over ticket sales for the highly anticipated tournament. FIFA maintains that the price adjustment is due to the introduction of a new ticket category designed to reward loyal fans traveling from around the world to the U.S.

The drop in prices, however, is not the only challenge FIFA has faced in promoting the tournament. The organization also struggled to secure broadcasting deals, eventually turning to the streaming service DAZN after months of unsuccessful pitches to major platforms.

In an attempt to generate global interest, FIFA and DAZN have announced that all games will be streamed for free, hoping to attract a wider audience to the competition.

The first edition of the tournament will begin on Saturday, 14 June 2025 when Inter Miami play against Al Ahly FC at Hard Rock Stadium.
