Move Over Scorsese, This Non-League TikTok Deserves An Academy Award

I'm no film connoisseur, but I know a great video clip when I see it.

Let me preface by saying this: TikTok is not my preferred form of social media. That being said, I appreciate an entertaining video regardless of the source.

The gem I bring to you today comes from Rossett Park in the Merseyside suburb of Crosby, as Marine FC faced off against Warrington Rylands in the Northern Premier League Division One West — the eighth tier of English football.

As the second and third-place sides in the division faced off this past Saturday, one young lad named Sean Lunt was along with his camera to film a vlog that would quickly become a classic.

This three-minute video had all the elements of an Academy Award-winning film: multiple plot points, unforeseen developments, eccentric characters, great accents, and a devilish villain.

Here were the highlights for me:

  • Just the way he says "Warrington Rylands" at the beginning
  • "The flat-capped guy who strangles kids, it's not on, absolutely not on"
  • Rylands goalkeeper Graeme Mccall taking the piss out of the Marine fans after the second goal
  • "He's trying to take the piss"

Great all-around theater that really encapsulates what non-league football is all about. You can also see the full vlog on YouTube, but that is about as good as it gets in three minutes.
