Watch Tyler Adams, Gio Reyna, Josh Sargent Chat About Start Of New Bundesliga Season

The 2020-21 Bundesliga season started on Friday. Starting this season, ESPN has the U.S. TV rights to the league. For this reason, the Worldwide Leader is actually paying attention to the German league, which is a nice change of pace given FOX’s disappointing coverage of the Bundesliga in recent years.

Most Bundesliga matches this season will be on ESPN+ and not one of the primary cable channels (we think ESPN+ is worth the cost). But Friday’s action kicked off with Bayern Munich taking on Schalke on ESPN. The match was called by Derek Rae and Taylor Twellman (from the U.S.)

Before the season, Twellman sat down with three of the most intriguing players in the Bundesliga, at least from an American perspective. RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams, Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna and Werder Bremen’s Josh Sargent joined Twellman on his show Banter to break down the start of the new campaign. You can watch the lively interview in the video at the top of the page or watch the full episode in the tweet below.

While Twellman threw some softballs at the player, like favorite German word or food, the trio did get into some interesting info ahead of the new season, such as what it’s like to play with Erling Haaland.

The only thing missing from the group video chat was Weston McKennie, who left Schalke a few weeks ago to join Juventus on loan, where he’s already linking up nicely with Cristiano Ronaldo. Regardless, the Bundesliga is full of young Americans and a league to keep an eye on for fans of the USMNT.
