Denmark score sensational goal against lackluster England to earn big point in 1-1 draw

A long-range Denmark goal vs England is the new candidate for goal of Euro 2024 as the Danes earned a 1-1 draw against a disappointing Three Lions side on Thursday.

Morten Hjulmand put his name up in lights after a careless giveaway from Harry Kane led to the 24-year-old defensive midfielder ripping a shot from distance. What a goal.

Denmark goal vs England

Hjulmand’s goal earned Denmark a 1-1 draw, but the Danes honestly could’ve won the match against an unrecognizable England side.

The underdogs recorded more shots and possession than the Euro favorites who only scored due to a mistake. In the 18th minute Kane opened his Euro 2024 scoring account after a careless giveaway in defense.

The Hjulmand goal injected a wave of confidence in Denmark as they pushed for a winner in the second half. England had several quality chances too with Phil Foden hitting the post and Ollie Watkins being denied by Kasper Schmeichel.

By the time the full-time whistle sounded Gareth Southgate’s side were serenaded with a chorus of boos from the England fans inside Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.

Despite sitting top of Group C with four points, England have failed to hit their stride in Euro 2024 so far with a so-so 1-0 victory vs. Serbia in their opener and now a disappointing draw against Denmark.

England will play Slovenia in their final group game on Tuesday seeking to secure a place in the knockout rounds and get some confidence going.

Denmark will face Serbia on Tuesday with second place in Group C up for grabs. Denmark sit tied for second with Slovenia at two point while Serbia grabbed a crucial point earlier on Thursday with a last-second goal from Luka Jovic.
