Forget The Game Of Thrones Trailer, This Ajax Goal Against Real Madrid Is The Only Video You Need To Watch Today

We here at The18 are as excited about the final season of Game of Thrones as anyone. But forget about that trailer HBO put out on Tuesday for a moment and watch this David Neres goal vs Real Madrid.

Ajax lost the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie with Real Madrid despite looking the better side for much of the game.

After a slow start in the return leg in Madrid — Raphael Varane hit the post in the opening four minutes — Ajax began tearing Los Blancos apart.

First, Hakim Ziyech dispossessed Toni Kroos before finishing the counterattack to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute. Then the Neres goal vs Real Madrid stunned the Madrid fans, many of whom probably can’t even remember the last time their team failed to reach at least the Champions League semifinals.

Really though, we should be calling this the Dusan Tadic assist, not the Neres goal. The Serbian forward channeled his inner Johan Cruyff with a brilliant spin move — we used to call that the circle button in Madden — before laying off to Neres. The Brazilian still had plenty to do, using tight control to round Thibaut Courtois and slot home the goal.

Another look at that move from Tadic that just completely took Casemiro, one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, out of the play.

The goal gave Ajax a 2-0 lead on the night, 3-2 on aggregate.

The Amsterdam squad nearly added a third through Neres moments later as Real Madrid was reeling.

Neres was feeling it on Tuesday.
