For the most part YouTube footballer compilations are a dime a dozen, but what YouTube producer JavierNathaniel manages to do here is standout amid the white noise. Maybe I’m just a sucker for Messi, maybe I’m just a sucker for quotes laid over an inspirational sound track, but this the best Messi video out there.
All of Messi’s biggest moments are in it, all of the times he has made you gasp in disbelief, all of the times he’s make you go “psh” because it all just looks so easy for him. They are all there, accompanied by commentary when appropriate, and music throughout.
It’s not often I’ll watch a video for 19 minutes, but this one has managed to get me to do so multiple times. I’m a soccer writer, it’s practically my job to Google search “Lionel Messi,” but even in my spare time I’ve watched this video through till the end; try it on a Saturday morning, it’s not a bad way to start the day.
