Hector Bellerin is one striking figure.
Not quite tall, not quite dark and not quite handsome, the Arsenal right back has nonetheless become one of the most notable footballers in the world for his appearance.
It’s not his man-bun that perfectly holds his floppy brown hair or the pencil mustache that looks like it belongs in a 1970s porno — for Hector Bellerin, it’s all about style.
Bellerin loves fashion. Earlier this year he spent time at London Men’s Fashion Week and his Instagram alone has pictures of himself in more outfits than I’ve owned in my entire life.
I'll admit I don’t know too much about the world of fashion. But I know Bellerin can pull off whatever look he wants. One look in particular made me incredibly jealous.
“There is no limit to what you can wear,” Bellerin said. “That day I wanted to wear my pajamas with a very cool Neil Barrett jacket. I was really comfy. I could come straight from my bed — I’d recommend it.”
I, too, would like to wear pajamas to work.
Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates Hector Bellerin’s non-conforming appearance. He recently spoke out about homophobic abuse shouted his way, both online and at the stadium. Apparently, some people think because he has long hair and is a vegan, he is therefore a lesbian.
But we’re here to celebrate Bellerin’s fashion choices. You don’t have to agree with them or even like them, but you have to admit they’re outside the norm for most people — footballers especially.
