Marco Reus Drove Unlicensed For 3 Years, Must Pay €540,000 Fine

Professional athletes have been known to do some dumb s***. Partially because they are young, but mostly because they know that, pretty much no matter what happens, they will always be able to throw enough money at whomever they wrong to smooth over the situation.

We believe it was Sean “Jay-Z” Carter who originally enlightened us to this reality with his omniscient words, “What’s 50 grand to a m*********** like me?” Regardless, we wonder how he would feel about 500 grand, or, if we are being specific, €540,000.

We don’t know what kind of “m***********” Marco Reus is, but we are going to venture a guess that €540,000 is certainly in the “Noticeable Amount” range. It’s hard to say though, seeing as he drove a car without having a license for 3 years, and most normal people would notice that misstep pretty quickly.

Maybe the fine will turn into further motivation for Marco to leave Germany. Anyone with their ear to the ground knows that he has been linked with every European giant from Real Madrid to Bayern Munich for some time now. What does European law say about paying a German fine while living in England or Spain? Not much, we’d again venture to guess.

That being said, he will of course have to pay the fine eventually, seeing as he will play for Die Mannschaft again. He is just too good not to, and we, as soccer fans, deserve to watch him play as often as possible.

So, Marco, there’s no sense in avoiding the inevitable. Pony up the change and sign up for whatever the German equivalent of Driver’s Ed is. Even James Bond had a driver’s license…or was that just his license to kill?
