Tim Weah Scores With Glorious Toe Poke 14 Minutes Into Celtic Debut

Tim Weah, the 18-year-old American, wasn’t getting much playing time at PSG. This was no surprise, with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar ahead of him in the pecking order.

So Weah went on loan to Celtic earlier this month in search of more playing time.

That playing time has arrived and it didn’t take long for Weah to show new manager Brendan Rodgers what he can do.

Weah started on the bench for Celtic’s fourth-round Scottish Cup match against Airdrieonians. But he came on for Scott Sinclair, who had given the Bhoys a 2-0 lead with a goal in each half.

Just 14 minutes into his Celtic career, Tim Weah found the back of the net.

Sure, it was a toe poke, but it doesn’t matter if it ends up in the back of the net. And it was a great run with great speed just to get on the end of the pass.

Weah was a bit fortunate to be kept onside by a defender who was behind him, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he knew he was there, because he’s an American and Americans are definitely the most self-aware people on the planet.

Celtic would go on to win 3-0 thanks to the Tim Weah debut goal. The American teenager nearly set up the Bhoys for a fourth, but a late first-time cross was just out of the reach of teammate Oliver Burke.

Weah will undoubtedly receive more playing time this spring with Celtic than he did with PSG, which is doing just fine offensively after a 9-0 rout of Guingamp on Saturday. Weah may just play a role in helping two clubs win league titles this season. Because Americans are just the best at the soccer, huh?
