Cute Pup Tries To Save Lives By Halting Match

While most leagues around the world have suspended operations to curb the spread of coronavirus, many in Central and South American have continued to play. This could put lives at risk if players or fans become infected at these large gatherings. One soccer dog is having none of it.

In South America, it’s a question of when, not if a dog will invade a pitch. Copa America 2020 will fittingly have a dog as its mascot after all the good boys who have graced pitches across the continent.

One good doggo in Argentina doesn’t want to see people spread COVID-19 and tried to stop a match between Gimnasia La Plata and Banfield on Friday.

Gimnasia, still coached by Diego Maradona after he quit and rejoined the club two days later in November, drew 0-0 with Banfield in the opening match of the Argentine Copa de la Superliga group stage on Friday night, but not before the game was interrupted.

A cute soccer dog bounded onto the pitch in the first half, halting play for a moment.

Daw. Just look at that face. And those stubby legs!

This wonderful pup wants everyone to stop spreading coronavirus and gaze upon its cuteness, though it’s also making social distancing tough because everyone wants to pat that adorable little head.

The announcers were great too, talking about how cute the pup is, as it really was the best part of the match.
